WEDGE · STEP 1 OF 2

Create the Microsoft account for Wedge

For: whoever Kevin delegates this to (no coding needed) · Time: ~20 min

Before Wedge can connect clients' Outlook and Teams, we need our own free Microsoft workspace (a "tenant") to hold the app. This step creates it using share@jollycommerce.io. It's free — no licenses, no mailboxes. When you're done, go to Step 2.

Have these ready before you start:

Step 1 — Make share@jollycommerce.io a Microsoft account

This email isn't a Microsoft account yet. You can turn any email into one (it doesn't have to be an @outlook address).

  1. Go to https://signup.live.com.
  2. Click “Use your email instead” and type share@jollycommerce.io.
  3. Choose a strong password (save it in 1Password / a password manager — Kevin will need it later).
  4. Enter the name (e.g. Jolly Commerce), country, and date of birth if asked.
  5. Microsoft emails a verification code to share@jollycommerce.io. Open that inbox, copy the code, paste it in. Solve the little puzzle/CAPTCHA if shown.

Now share@jollycommerce.io is a Microsoft account you can sign in with.

Step 2 — Sign in to Microsoft Entra & set up the Authenticator

  1. Go to https://entra.microsoft.com and sign in with share@jollycommerce.io.
  2. If prompted to set up extra security, install Microsoft Authenticator on your phone and follow the prompts (scan the QR code, approve the test notification). Microsoft requires this for admins now.

Step 3 — Create the Wedge tenant (free)

  1. In the left menu, click Entra ID.
  2. Go to Overview, then click the Manage tenants tab near the top.
  3. Click + Create.
  4. Basics tab → choose the type Microsoft Entra ID (NOT the “(B2C)” one). Click Next: Configuration.
  5. Configuration tab, fill in:
    • Organization name: Jolly Commerce
    • Initial domain name: jollycommercewedge (this becomes jollycommercewedge.onmicrosoft.com). Letters/numbers only. ⚠️ This can’t be changed later — if it’s taken, add a number.
    • Country/Region: France (can’t be changed later)
  6. Click Next: Review + Create, then Create. Approve the Authenticator prompt if asked.

Step 4 — Switch into the new tenant

  1. Top-right, click your account / the directory switcher (the “Settings ⚙ → Directories” or the portfolio icon) and select the new Jolly Commerce tenant.
  2. You are now the Global Administrator of it (you get this automatically as the creator).
If you get “you can’t create a tenant” / the Create button is blocked:

Microsoft sometimes restricts free tenant creation. If that happens, use this fallback instead: go to azure.microsoft.com/free and create a free Azure account with share@jollycommerce.io. This also creates the Microsoft tenant we need. It asks for a credit card for identity verification only — Microsoft places a small temporary hold (~1 €) and does not charge it; we won't add any paid service. Then continue to Step 2. If you hit this, tell Kevin so he can hand you a card.

✅ Before you move on, note these for Kevin

  1. The tenant domain you created (e.g. jollycommercewedge.onmicrosoft.com).
  2. The password you set for share@jollycommerce.io (send via 1Password / private DM).
  3. Which phone has the Authenticator (so we don't get locked out).
